Fundamental Agreement Between The Holy See And The State Of Israel

This is a key element of the fundamental agreement between the State of Israel and the Holy See, in which the two States undertake, in article 2, to « cooperate appropriately to combat all forms of anti-Semitism and racism and religious intolerance, as well as to promote mutual understanding among nations, tolerance among communities and respect for human life and human dignity ». During these years, the Holy See has worked hard alongside the State of Israel to combat the abomination of anti-Semitism. It renews this energetic and increasingly urgent commitment, as new forms of evil of anti-Semitism have emerged. 2. Notwithstanding the validity of this Agreement between the Parties and without prejudice to the universality of an applicable Rule of Law with respect to treaties, the Parties agree that this Agreement recognizes the rights and obligations arising from treaties existing between a Party and one or two States known and actually available to both Parties at the time of signature of this Agreement; is not affected.
